Welcome:
“We’re a group of people who desire to know God deeper, to grow in our walks with God, and to show our relationship with Jesus to others. At Calvary, we call that Reaching Up, Reaching In, and Reaching Out. There are NO perfect people in our church, just broken people who have given the shattered pieces of our lives into God’s hands. Together, as a family, we walk through things , NOT around them. Our church is founded on the Bible and our heartbeat is to love on others.”
WHAT TO EXPECT:
ATMOSPHERE:Many times, going someplace new can be intimidating. Knowing what to expect before you get there can help. Everyone is welcome at Calvary Bible Church. Only people NOT allowed are perfect people! We are regular people who realize that we need God and we are striving to grow in our relationships with God. We study the Bible together to find meaningful, practical, real-life answers that God has for us in His Word, the Bible. |
DRESS:We have NO dress code and most people dress casually. Some choose to wear a jacket or tie. It’s really your personal preference. We welcome you to come the way you feel most comfortable. |
SERVICE TIMES:Our Sunday School lasts about 45 minutes starting at 9:30AM. |
NURSERY & JUNIOR CHURCH:Nursery is available downstairs for birth to 3 years old for any service on Sunday. We encourage families to worship together during our preliminary activities and when the last verse of the last song before the message is sung children (3 years old to 5th grade) are dismissed to Junior Church. Parents are welcome to bring younger children into the worship service if they want. Junior Church is designed to help children learn about the big picture of the Bible. All of the Bible points to our need of a Messiah, a Savior, a Redeemer … Jesus Christ. Our children will explore this overarching concept with stops at each book of the Bible. After the Sunday Morning Worship Service children 3 years old to 5th grade will be in our gym for check-out. Feel free to talk and fellowship with others before you retrieve your child. Babies in the nursery will remain in the nursery until you check them out. |
MUSIC/MEDIA:We use a mix of traditional hymns and a chorus time with contemporary Christian music. Some lift their hands to God, while others are more quiet and reflective in their response to God. That is up to you. |
MESSAGE (SERMON):Each Sunday, you will hear a relevant, straightforward message, which is based on the Bible. Each message is designed to be practically helpful and often closes with a So What? section to tie it all together. We trust these messages will help you begin and develop a growing, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and provide a strong biblical foundation for your life. Most weeks, the message is brought by Pastor Jonathan, our lead pastor. However, we do have periodic special speakers or other men in our church family who have been gifted to share God’s Word publicly. As a way to help sermon highlights are visible on a projection screen, and we provide a note taking sheet, making it easy to review the main points of the message throughout the week. Plus, in each bulletin there is a Digging Deeper section to encourage follow-up discussion from that Sunday’s Message. |
OFFERING:At Calvary Bible Church, we do not pass any plates. In the back of our sanctuary is a locked wooden box that is labeled offering. It is there for our church family to worship the Lord through our tithes and offerings. If you are a guest, you may give financially to support the ministry of Calvary Bible Church, but please do not feel obligated to do that. This is an act of worship for our members and regular attendees, allowing another opportunity for them to thank God for all that He is doing in their lives and support God’s work through this church family. The offering taken each week provides Calvary Bible Church with the resources needed to share the Good News of Jesus with more and more people. |
COMMUNION (THE LORD’S SUPPER):The first Sunday of each month we celebrate communion together. We encourage anyone who has personally accepted God’s free gift of salvation to participate in this time of remembering and reflecting on the person and work of Jesus Christ. |
BAPTISM:The Bible teaches that those who have entered into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through faith, should publicly identify themselves as a follower of Jesus Christ by being baptized. It is our great joy to be part of this special step in someone’s life, and we celebrate baptism as often as people are ready. Please let us know if you are interested in being baptized. |
